Dog owners have a duty to ensure that other people aren’t in danger because of their dogs. This is something that one dog owner in Fulton County neglected to do with his dogs. His two dogs savagely attacked children who were on the way to the school bus stop.

The two dogs, which were eventually captured and turned over to the Fulton County Animal Control, killed a 6-year-old boy and seriously injured a 5-year-old girl. The young girl was taken to a local hospital and had to undergo an emergency surgery. She is said to be in stable condition. Her injuries were to her face and head. The young boy who was killed was said to have been covered in blood as his lifeless body lay in a front yard.

The dogs, both of whom were described as pit bull mixes, appeared to be on a rampage. Police officers were able to find their owner. He was arrested on two counts of reckless conduct. His bail was set at $20,000 on these misdemeanor charges.

While this man will face criminal charges for the dog attacks, it won’t take away the pain that the children who were attacked faced. It won’t bring back the boy who was killed and it won’t take away the memories that are likely going to haunt the other children at the bus stop or the adults who live in the area who had to witness the chaotic scene.

Parents who have to deal with horrific dog attacks such as this have the right to seek compensation for their child’s injuries. The compensation, if awarded, would only help the financial impact, as it can’t take away pain or bring a child back.
